When you walk into the therapy space with our Recreational Therapists, the hope is that the participant feels safe and at home. A participant seeking recreational therapy will utilize the purposeful use of play and recreational activities such as board games, legos, play-doh, cars and trucks, and obstacle courses to assist in skill development, life satisfaction, and overall well-being. Skill development areas may include emotional awareness and identification, safe self and co-regulation strategies, communication and social, body awareness, movement and mobility, independence and autonomy, self-confidence, flexible thinking, and cognitive skills, community safety and integration, and self-identity.
Approach:
Our Recreational Therapists utilize a trauma - informed, strengths - based, and client - focused approach to therapy giving the participant as much control of the session as they need. With our Recreational Therapists, the participant will always be safe, heard, and validated. Everyone is welcome inside of our therapy space.
